The Prevention and Treatment Of Gum Disease

My name is Hal Martin and at my last dental checkup my dentist told me that I had gum disease. My dentist gave me instructions about what I needed to do so that the gum disease wouldn't get worse and turn into periodontal disease. When I returned home, I immediately began learning everything I could about gum disease by reading dental articles online. I sure didn't want it to get worse so I knew that I needed to take action right away. In this blog, you'll learn all about gum disease including what it is, the causes and how you can help prevent it. I wanted to write this blog to get the word out to as many people about gum disease to hopefully help others have healthy gums.

2 Easy Tips To Help Soothe Your TMJ Immediately After A Dive

TMJ is associated with jaw joint stress and can be activated due to a number of reasons. One of the most common activities that people experience TMJ during is diving. This is due to the way the beginner divers hold onto their mouthpiece. Out of fear that the mouthpiece may fall out, many individuals clench onto the device. This creates an extreme amount of tension in your jaw joint area. If you experience this, then you know that TMJ will last for a good amount of time once the dive is complete. This can put a hold on activities that you want to experience. Luckily, there are a few tips that can be used to soother the TMJ.

Rub Clove Oil Along Your Jaw

If you have any kind of oral pain, then clove oil is one of the best oils that you can pack with you anywhere. Clove oil is an analgesic herbal oil and this makes it powerful for pain relief. If you have clove oil with you, then you can add a few drops to olive oil and soak a cotton ball in the mix. Hold the cotton ball near your jaw line inside of your mouth. Do this for a few minutes, then get a clean cotton ball. Soak this cotton ball in the mixture and hold it against your jaw line outside of your mouth. Use your fingertips to massage the oil into your skin. You can perform this step immediately after a shower in order to ensure the oil is absorbed into your skin.

Rest Your Jaw Muscles

Aside for pain killers and analgesic herbs, rest is the quickest way to get relief from TMJ. TMJ subsides on your own the less that you use your jaw joints. If you decide to eat a large meal or speak for an extended period of time, then you are adding tension to an already sore area. This is will heighten and prolong the pain. Therefore, give yourself a few hours to rest in order to rest your jaw joints. Once you wake up, you should eat a soft or liquid meal in order to give yourself energy.

Once you have developed TMJ during your dive, there is no way to just get rid of it immediately. In many cases it takes time and patience. Until then, use these tips to help give yourself from relief from the pain and discomfort. For more information on TMJ treatment, contact a business such as Graylyn Dental
